We read a book about Arbor Day.  It started in Nebraska back in the day.  There were no trees back then and they had to grow all of the trees.  We worked some more on our box community.  In math we worked on our September centers.  I was proud of our class when we all worked together to cover our boxes in paper.  The book fair starts next week!

Blue Ribbon School!

Today was an exciting day for our school!  We found out this morning at an all-staff meeting that we were selected to be a National Blue Ribbon school for the 2013-2014 school year!  WOW!!  U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, recognized 286 schools as the 2013 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools, based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in improving student academic achievement.

In November, our principal, Mr. Wulf, and one teacher will travel to Washington, D.C. to accept our Blue Ribbon Reward from Arne Duncan.  Following that trip, there will be a public reception here at school for everyone to attend to celebrate this accomplishment.

This is a HUGE honor for our school!  I am so proud of our teachers, staff, and students for all of their hard work.  This award is a true reflection of what we believe and stand for at Wakefield Elementary School.  Our students and staff work hard to make sure every student is successful.

Fashion Disaster

Today we had chicken nuggets for lunch.  It was Fashion Disaster day for homecoming.  In math we took a test on addition strategies.  We started building our community out of boxes.  I am proud of our class today because we all participated in Fashion Disaster day!

Second Grade Rocks!

One thing we did today is we went to the gym for our school picture.  Then we played soccer in PE.  I was really proud of Johnathan today.  When I fell playing soccer in PE, he helped me up.  Tomorrow is fashion disaster day for Homecoming.

Second Grade Rocks!

Time to dust off this blog for a new school year! We've been so busy learning our routines that we just haven't had time to blog, yet. Juan will start us off with the first blog post of the 2013-2014 school year.

We decorated the hallway today because it is homecoming. It looks like Duck Dynasty. We practiced our pep rally dance with the Freshman this morning. Don't forget to wear green tomorrow for class color day. Today I am proud of our class because we were quiet in the hallway when we got our milk.
