From Mrs. Schlickbernd
What a whirlwind the first days of school can be! We have been busy in the classroom setting goals and expectations for our learning and behavior. To emphasize our classroom rules, we each created a puzzle piece with something that we do in our classroom. It will hang on our wall all year to remind us that if one piece is missing, it isn't a complete puzzle. Likewise, if we stop doing one of those things, there will be a big hole in our classroom.
We also started learning about our first Daily 5: Read to Self. We spent a lot of time creating our anchor chart and going over student and teacher expectations. Then we practiced, practiced, practiced! Our goal is to reach 20 minutes of non-stop independent reading. Here is a picture of our anchor chart.
It has been a joy to get to know your children so far and I am looking forward to an exciting year in second grade!

Classroom Photos
I took some pictures of our classroom before Meet and Greet tonight, but I wanted to do something fun with them. So I made this quick video using Animoto to show them off. We will use Animoto many times throughout the school year! I look forward to meeting my new second graders tonight!
